MARGINALE II

Organized by the Napoli Totale Elettronica collective and Opificio Puca, Marginale is a festival dedicated to the exploration of acousmatic music and radical improvisational practices. Now in its second edition, the festival presents itself as a device for cultural and political resistance: in response to extreme economic polarization and social atomization, Marginale reacts by generating instantaneous communities.

Improvisation is not understood here merely as an aesthetic practice, but as an exercise in mutual listening and horizontal cooperation, capable of disrupting the logic of dominance and reactivating spaces of authentic relationship. The festival finds its ideal location in Opificio Puca, where sonic research intertwines with industrial archaeology.

For spatialized audio diffusion, the festival utilizes Volta, a portable and open-source Ambisonics system designed to emancipate spatial audio from institutional circuits and bring it to independent contexts. Through the use of 3D-printed speakers and an octophonic configuration set up in the Sala delle Ceneri, the festival transforms the space into a field of immersive investigation. The 2026 program features historical figures of international experimentation — such as Klaus Filip, Christian Kobi, Radu Malfatti, and Jean-François Laporte — consolidating an ecosystem where the circulation of technical knowledge and expressive radicalism fuel collective processes of critical awareness.
